Channel one of the most powerful Avengers with outfits inspired by Scarlet Witch

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 is coming to an end on April 26th with the movie Avengers: Endgame.

This movie, paired with last year’s Infinity War, is the culmination of a decade long plan from Marvel. It’s not just an incredible and unbelievable franchise for comic book fans, the MCU has reshaped the film industry as we know it with rival studios trying (and mostly failing) to replicate the shared universe Marvel has created.

In the lead up to Endgame, we’re going to dedicate the next few Heroic Styles posts to some iconic characters from the MCU.

Today we’re drawing inspiration from one of the most powerful heroes, Wanda Maximoff, A.K.A Scarlet Witch.

About Scarlet Witch

The character of Scarlet Witch was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in 1964.

Wanda Maximoff is usually a mutant in the comics, but since Marvel didn’t have the rights for the X-Men yet when the MCU’s version of Wanda was introduced, her backstory was changed.

Marvel Studios’ version of Scarlet Witch was experimented on by HYDRA and her powers were created by the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones. This gave her powers of energy manipulation, telekinesis, telepathy, and even the ability to warp reality. These powers make her one of the three most powerful Avengers introduced before Captain Marvel (the other characters being Thor and Vision).

Scarlet Witch in the MCU

Wanda is played by Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU. She first appeared in an uncredited scene on Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, but was formally introduced on Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and has appeared in two more movies. Avengers: Endgame will be her fourth.

A TV series named The Vision and Scarlet Witch has been announced but it has not been confirmed if Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will reprise the roles.

Scarlet Witch’s Style in the MCU

Wanda’s style is best described as chic goth, at least for her first appearance.

In her early appearances, she tends to wear short dressesleather jacketslong cardigansfingerless glovescombat boots and over-the-knee socks.

After she adjusts to her life as an Avenger, she wears more casual clothes, like skinny jeanst-shirtsand lightweight jackets.

She favors dark colors like greyblackburgundy and burnt red.

Scarlet Witch’s Style, Outfit #1: “I am something else. And still me.”

Products: Bodysuit – The Outnet, Skirt – H&M, Blazer – ASOS, Socks – Eve’s Temptation, Loafers – H&M, Bracelets – Ardene, Necklace – Kendra Scott, Choker – Jules Smith

In Wanda’s first appearances, her style has a goth vibe, featuring dark colors and a lot of accessories.

For this first outfit, use a dark grey bodysuit and a black denim skirt as a base. A dark red lightweight blazer is a perfect replacement for her leather jacket, especially when the weather is getting warmer. To emulate her over-the-knee socks and boots, but for a warm climate, use a pair of black mesh socks with loafers in the same color.

To accessorize, use black bracelets. Layer different types of necklaces, I chose a lace-up burgundy choker and a long necklace with a dark red stone.

Scarlet Witch’s Style, Outfit #2: “I just feel you”

Scarlet Witch's style from the Marvel movies: Mom jeans, striped tee, oversized jacket, watch, boots

Products: Jeans – Abercrombie & Fitch, Shirt – Forever 21, Jacket – H&M, Boots – Nordstrom Rack, Earrings – Mango, Watch – Adidas

At the beginning of Infinity War, Wanda is a fugitive from the law and she has to blend in. Her outfits reflect this, since it’s very casual and literally anyone can wear it.

To copy her outfit, use a pair of high-waisted jeans in a light wash with a striped top. I chose a top that has her signature color, dark red. Next, layer on a jacket in army green. This one is more lightweight than the parka she’s wearing, because the weather is getting warmer.

For shoes, go for a pair of black combat boots.

Use accessories to increase your style points. Start with long earrings in interesting shapes, then add a cool watch. I opted for this set of long, white and red earrings and a red watch, both matching the colors of the top.

Scarlet Witch’s Style, Outfit #3: “Why was she up there all this time?”

Scarlet Witch style: Outfit inspired by Scarlet Witch with black jeans, loafers, red backpack, burgundy bodysuit, chokers, oversized jacket

Products: Jeans – Abercrombie & Fitch, Jacket – ASOS, Bodysuit – ASOS, Shoes – Nordstrom, Bag – Revolve, Necklace – Ardene

Wanda’s Scarlet Witch outfit is a corset and a jacket/cape in red, with black pants and boots, all of it in leather.

To emulate her look, rock black paper-bag waist jeans with a burgundy bodysuit with a V-neck. Layer your outfit with an oversized red denim jacket to mimic Scarlet Witch’s jacket/cape. Instead of boots, I chose a pair of suede black mules.

The accessories are a red backpack in leather as a nod to her actual suit and a red lace-up choker to match her necklace.
